How To Use The Alpha From Lightness (Unmult Effect):
- Open After Effects
- Create a New Composition
- Add Footage Layer (such as a video)
- Add a still or animated texture with a black background
- Select Texture Layer
- Go to Effects & Presets
- Search for Unmult
- Select Effect and drag on to footage layer
- Go to Effect Controls
- Change ‘Take Alpha From’ to ‘Lightness’ or ‘Luminance’
- Add Color Fill or Color Overlay Layer Style to change color of texture
