How To Create Twist Animation Adobe After Effects CC 2023:

  1. Create a new Composition (Cmd/Ctrl + N)
  2. Deselect All Layers in the Layers Panel (F2)
  3. Select Pen Tool (G)
  4. Change to ‘No Fill Color’
  5. Change to 10 px Stroke (White)
  6. Click a point  on the left edge of Composition
  7. Hold the Shift Key & Click a point on the right edge to create a straight line
  8. Go to Layers Panel
  9. Twirl Open ‘Shape Layer (line)’
  10. Twirl open Contents
  11. Click on the arrow next to ‘Add’
  12. Select ‘Twist’
  13. Twirl open ’Twist’
  14. Drag CTI to the beginning of the Timeline
  15. Click on the stopwatch for ‘Angle’ property to add a keyframe
  16. Change Value to Zero (0)
  17. Move CTI forward in time to 5 second mark
  18. Change Angle to 1500 to add 2nd keyframe
  19. Drag Playhead to the beginning
  20. Press Spacebar to Preview


How To Add Loop Out Expression To Extent Duration of Animation:

  1. Press Option or Alt Key
  2. Click on the stopwatch for ‘Angle’
  3. Type in the Expression loopOut(“offset”)
  4. Click away
  5. Press the SpaceBar to preview


How To Create Twist Animation inside Eyeglass Lenses:

  1. Repeat steps above to create Twist Animation
  2. Move Twist Shape over Right Lens
  3. Duplicate the Twist animation (Cmd/Ctrl + D) and move over Left Lens
  4. Create an Ellipse Shape to Cover the Right Glass Frames
  5. Duplicate Ellipse Shape and move over Left Frame
  6. Change the Track Mattes for Twist Layers to match the Frame Shape Layers
