What is a Freeze Frame:
A still image create by ‘freezing’ a video or animation and taking a snapshot of one frame that can be used as a still image or graphic.

Split Layers: Shift + Cmd/Ctrl + D
Trim Layer to CTI: Opt/Alt + Right Bracket

How To Create Freeze Frames in After Effects:

  1. Open After Effects
  2. Create a Composition
  3. Add a Video or Animation
  4. Drag CTI to place in video to ‘freeze’
  5. Split Layer (Edit Menu…Split) or Cmd + Shift + D
  6. Select layer to be ‘freeze framed’
  7. Right-Click
  8. Select ‘Time’
  9. Select ‘Freeze Frame’
  10. Drag out Freeze Frame to control duration
  11. Drag out Original Video to play after Freeze Frame Duration
