Ep30 : The Strengths Show
What were the results of my StrengthsFinder 2.0 test and the benefits of understanding your strengths (and weaknesses) for podcasting, business and life.
Question: What is Podcasts Connect?
Answer: PodcastsConnect.com is a portal for podcasters to manage all of their podcasts. This is also the portal where you will submit new podcasts to iTunes replacing the old method that used to be in iTunes.
To access:
Log in to PodcastsConnect.com with the Apple ID you used to create your podcast.
Warning: Do not mess with the feed or mirror feed unless you really know what you are doing.
StrengthsFinder 2.0
Special thanks to Jim Collison of The Average Guy TV network for giving me the nudge to take StrengthsFinder 2.0
The test is $15 bucks, there are 177 questions that took under 30 minutes to complete and you will get 5 strengths out of a total of 34 and then all sorts of analysis and reports around your 5 strengths. And before we get too deep today, the test is the easy part, what you do with the results is the most important part.
My Results
My top 5 strengths in order were:
1. Strategic
2. Achiever
3. Responsibility
4. Learner
5. Relator
Ok #1: Strategic: According to the description from my report, It means I am able to sort through the clutter and find the best route. It is not a skill that can be taught. This perspective allows me to see patterns where others simply see complexity.
#2 Achiever: Achiever has a constant need for achievement.
every day starts at zero. By the end of the day you must achieve something tangible in order to feel good about yourself. And by “every day” it means every single day—workdays,
weekends, vacations, doesn’t matter
#3: Responsibility:you to take psychological ownership for anything you commit to, and
whether large or small, you feel emotionally bound to follow it through to completion. Your good name depends on it. If for some reason you cannot deliver, you automatically start to look for ways to make it up to the other person. Apologies are not enough. Excuses and rationalizations are totally unacceptable. You will not quite be able to live with yourself until you have made restitution
#4: Learner: You love to learn. whatever the subject, you will always be drawn to the process of learning. The process, more than the content or the result, is especially exciting for you. You are energized by the steady and deliberate journey from ignorance to competence.
#5: Relator: the Relator theme pulls you toward people you already know. You do not necessarily shy away from meeting new people—but you derive a great deal of pleasure and strength from being around your close friends. Once the initial connection has been made, you deliberately encourage a deepening of the relationship. They find deep satisfaction in working hard with friends to achieve a goal
