Adobe After Effects CC 2023: How To Copy Expressions Only

Description:
This tutorial will show you how to Copy Expressions Only in Adobe After Effects CC 2023 so you can copy an expression from one layer and paste onto one or multiple other layers.

Keyboard Shortcuts Used:
EE: Reveal All Expressions
P: Postion
R: Rotation
S: Scale
Shift + Property: Show multiple properties
Cmd/Ctrl + V: Paste

Expressions Used:
wiggle(4,1) on Position Property
wiggle (3,1) on Rotation Property

How To Add Wiggle Expression:

  1. Select Layer
  2. Press P for Position
  3. Press Option or Alt + Click on Stopwatch
  4. Type wiggle(4,1)
  5. Repeat for Rotation Property

 

How To Copy Expression Only:

  1. Select Layer with Expression
  2. Tap EE to Reveal Expression
  3. Select Position Property
  4. Right-Click or Go to Edit Menu
  5. Select ‘Copy Expression Only’
  6. Select one or multiple Layers
  7. Paste (Cmd/Ctrl + V) to paste expression on multiple layers
  8. Tap EE to confirm expressions are on layers
  9. Tap SpaceBar to preview animation
