After Effects CC 2022: Show & Hide Audio Levels Property & Waveforms. (Keyboard Shortcuts)

Description:

This tutorial will show you the keyboard shortcuts to show and hide the Audio Levels property and Waveforms for all layers that contain audio in Adobe After Effects CC 2022. You will also learn how to search and isolate all audio layers in a Composition.

Audio Levels Property:
One use case for pulling up the audio property is to keyframe the Audio Gain to add fade ins and fade outs or to mute the audio at specific times in the animation.

Keyboard Shortcut:

  • Tap L to show Audio Level properties.
  • Tap L to hide Audio Level properties.
  • Tap LL to hide Audio Waveforms
  • Tap LL to show Audio Waveforms
  • Press Cmd/Ctrl + F to Search for Audio

How To Show & Hide Audio Levels Properties in the Layers Panel:

  1. Create a new Composition 
  2. Add at least one layer with audio (sound)
  3. Select/highlight the layers/timeline panel (look for blue highlight around the panel)
  4. Tap L one time and all Audio Level Properties will be revealed
  5. Tap L again to collapse or hide Audio Level Properties in the Layer Panel

 

How To Show & Hide Audio Waveforms on the Timeline:

  1. Create a new Composition 
  2. Add at least one layer with audio (sound)
  3. Select/highlight the layers/timeline panel (look for blue highlight around the panel)
  4. Tap LL quickly one time and all Audio Waveforms will be visible on the Timeline
  5. Tap LL quickly again to collapse or hide Audio Waveforms on the Timeline

How To Show All Layers With Audio in a Composition:

  1. Select/highlight the layers/timeline panel (look for blue highlight around the panel)
  2. Click in the Search Bar above the Timeline or tap ‘Cmd/Ctrl + F’ 
  3. Type in ‘Audio’ 
  4. All Layers with Audio will be the only layers visible in the Layers Panel
  5. Clear the Search Bar to reveal all layers in the Composition
